  Problems in paradise

  i know there are a ton of problems with the idea of paradise.

  i was just thinking about how much sense it doesnt make.

  for example how is it supposed to work as far as housing arrangements?

  My boss at a bar I used to bartend in was helping me thru an unexpected busy period. When I asked him to make a rum and coke for me, he asked what went in it.

  It also seems that every time I am by a river with my flyrod in my hand, my waders and fishing vest on, someone always asks me if I'm going fishing.

  How many of you are childfree by choice?

  by that, i mean you do not want to have children.. i have been told since birth it would not be safe for me to have children, so i never even considered it.

  i never went through a grieving period because the concept of having babies was not something i once had and lost.

  i always envisioned myself as a happy career woman.. i recently married and am still sure i don't want children.

  I have never had even the slightest desire to reproduce. My family is so messed up, I would be doing humanity a disservice by adding my seed to the gene pool.

  haunted places, haunted houses, haunted people, have you had a true encounter with the world beyond?

  i only read about it, i never experienced any of it.

  anyone want to share their experiences, outside of halloween of course.

  I work in one of the Travel Channel's Top 5 Most Haunted Hotels in Troutdale, Oregon. I have only been there for three months now, and have already heard strange noises and voices, have closed down one of the many small bars on the property and after turning off the lights, blowing out the candles, and leaving for the evening, had the security staff tell me that after I had left, the lights were back on, the stereo was playing, and one candle was re-lit.This happened twice. Many of our guests and employees alike are always reporting apparitions and seeing glowing orbs if light. There is a ghost-journal at the front desk you can read that has all kinds of spooky encounters logged in it. I havn't actually SEEN a ghost though. I am looking foreward to it.

  What do you do in your spare time?

  i have been here for almost 3 months now and was curious what ya'll did for fun outside of jwd.com.

  right now because it's summer and it's too hot i don't do much glassblowing.

  but that is where i spend most of my weekends when i'm not working.

  Fly-fishing and lots of it, shooting and lots of it, a little golf here and there, I collect edged weaponry (not the crappy wall-hanger stuff mind you, but the quality hand made stuff). I'm really into the cinema, hanging with my dog, meeting new and interesting people.

  i needed to take some time away, and figure out how i really felt about my feelings on life and religion in general.

  this website really heped me gain a little closure on my exit from the jehovah's witnesses at a time when i really needed it.

  That's the best attitude you could possibly have if you want to feel true inner peace, Dustin. I was racked by guilt and insecurity for years after I got out. Still today, I know my 2 sisters barely, if at all. My Dad's on the verge of emotional collapse, my Mom died a year ago and he's detiriorating rapidly. They never call me either. I feel like I havve TRULY accepted it and am really very happy and healthy now, but it took a DAMN long time. It will get better for you too man.

  the witnesses say that they put the kingdom first in their lives, and that the rest of the world puts pleasures and money and sex first.. a kind of black and white picture of them and the world.. so, you evil people .

  my old man always wanted to meet the apostles who were fishermen 'cause he likes to fish.

  i used to picture myself when i was a little kid holding hands with job and moses skipping through the gumdrop forest and petting an alaskan brown bear completly unafraid of bodily harm whilst the 1800 lb bruin grazes peacefully in the pasture.

Why stop it there? Ask Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo over for a few hands of Texas Hold'em. Have Jacob and all his extended family over for a nice Bar-b-que of Tofurkey and Soy Milk. Play 18 holes of golf with the Apostle Paul. Go boating with Jonah. Take Daniel out to hang with the lions. Have margaritas with Lot's Wife. Etc., etc.

  Ain't Karma Grand?

  i just found out that the po of my old cong who presided over my disfellowshipping meeting was just disfellowshipped himself for a long history of horriffic physical and emotional abuse of his wife and family.. while i feel terrible for his family, i can't help but crack a smile when i think of him sitting in a cell (he was incarcerated for his evil deeds) stewing in his own juices.

  when i was a kid in the cong, this guy was the most opiniated, judgemental, hateful asshole i have ever known.

  i feel to some extent that justice has been served.

  This guy took it a step further in that he abused OTHER peoples families with his public slander of them and hypocritical mouth diarreah. He truly deserves every worst possible conscequence for his actions. Turd.
